EOF

Field of Application

Function for checking for an end-of-ﬁ le condition.

Syntax EOF(<nexp>)

<nexp> is the number assigned to the ﬁ le when it was OPENed.

Remarks

The EOF function can be used with ﬁ les OPENed for sequential input in

connection with the statements INPUT#, LINE INPUT#, and INPUT$ to

avoid the error condition “Input past end” which has no error message.

When the EOF function encounters the end of a ﬁ le, it returns the value -1

(true). If not, it returns the value 0 (false).
